The topic of decarbonization, or the reduction or elimination of carbon dioxide emissions from a process such as the production of energy, is quickly moving into the healthcare facilities management spotlight. Our guest Gerald A. (Andy) Woommavovah, System Director, Facility Management, Construction, Energy, and Infrastructure at Trinity Health, MI, talks about decarbonization in healthcare facilities management.

Earlier this year, The Joint Commission caused a stir in healthcare facilities management with proposed sustainability requirements that were later deemed to be optional. That, though, is not the focus of our conversation with Andy. Instead, Andy presents a well-rounded look into decarbonization and its potential impact on healthcare facilities. This discussion will interest the decarbonization expert or beginner. Along the way, we discuss interesting turns in Andy’s career path.

Episode 2 of “Hospital facilities and Decarbonization” will be released at a later date.
